Jeremy Lin is expected to have the best year of his career with the Brooklyn Nets next season as he finally has a chance to become a full-time starter. However, one sports list omitted Lin from the Top 100 NBA players heading into the 2016-17 season.

According to Rob Mahoney of Sports Illustrated, the 27-year-old point guard was just a role player last season for the Charlotte Hornets. He noted that due to his play, he earned his new $36 million deal with the Nets.

“The arrangement made sense and Lin carried his role well—making him one of the league’s best reserve point guards and a reasonable free agent target for the Nets this summer,” Mahoney reported.

Mahoney added that Jeremy Lin not being named to the SI 100 is not a slap to the face or a shot to the Harvard product. He thinks that Lin was just not good enough to dethrone other players in the Top 100 list.

“Omitting Lin from the Top 100 isn’t a slight or an oversight. It’s merely an acknowledgment that Lin’s offerings in the last year were both helpful and a cut below some of the league’s most impactful players,” he added.

Nevertheless, Lin is expected to have the best season of his career with the Nets. He is the second option on the team behind Brook Lopez. According to Nothin But Nets, Lin will also provide leadership to a very young Nets team.

Besides Jeremy Lin, some of the biggest snubs from the list include Tony Parker, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Harrison Barnes and Jamal Crawford. Brook Lopez was the only Nets player in the list and he was at No. 38.
