Kevin Durant seeks to join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation sports agency group
Three time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant has reportedly parted ways with his agent Rob Pelinka, and will look to sign with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation sports agency.
Pelinka’s group, Landmark Sports Agency, revealed in a statement today that Durant will no longer be represented by them.
“We are honored and blessed to have worked on behalf of Kevin, for a brief period of time,” Pelinka said. “He is an amazing person and athlete, and we are proud of our work and service towards advancing his brand in a manner that reflects the mutual qualities we share with Kevin. We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors,” reports USA Today.
Durant, who is endorsed by major corporations such as Nike, Sprint, Gatorade, etc., according to ESPN, wants to expand his brand even more, and team up with hip-hop icon Jay-Z’s agency. He’s signed with the Thunder through 2015-16 and will not need a contract agent for some time.
Jay-Z has recently started up Roc Nation sports agency group, which has many notable athletes flocking to be represented by the mogul, such as Yankees all-star second baseman Robinson Cano, former Notre Dame Women’s Basketball star Skylar Diggins, and Jets second round pick Geno Smith.
Durant is already well marketed, as seen by the number of commercials in which he’s featured. This move will only improve his marketing opportunities, and bring in more endorsements for the 24-year-old superstar.
