Kevin Love replaces Yao Ming on All-Star team

When Minnesota Timberwolves Head Coach Kurt Rambis entered the locker room on Friday night before his teams game against the Toronto Raptors it looked as if he going to do a usual pre game pep talk, but that was not the case. Rambis was coming to tell his third year forward Kevin Love that he will be replacing Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets on this year’s All-Star roster.

Love who was originally left off of the team when the rosters were announced on Thursday said “I’m truly humbled. I’m truly blessed. It’s a goal of mine my whole life and I’ve reached it. I was very happy”, all this according to the star tribune.  Ming was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left ankle in December of 2010 and will be unable to play in the game. Love had the elation of a kid opening presents on Christmas day when he heard the news. He is more than deserving of a bid with outstanding numbers this season.

Love averages 21 points per game and leads the league with 15 rebounds per contest. He has totaled 44 double-doubles this season which is also tops in the league in addition to being second in player efficiency per 48 minutes with a rating of 38.18. Greg Popavich who is the Western conference team’s Head Coach has the final decision on who will start the game at the center position.
