Knicks Rumors: New York signing Hinrich or Farmar as insurance for injury-prone Rose, Jennings?

The New York Knicks already have a nice depth at the point guard position with Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings in their line-up. But according to NBA rumors, the Knicks are worried of the health of both PGs and they could bring in a veteran point guard before the 2016-2017 NBA starts.

Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders claims that the Knicks are “gambling” and faces a lot of risk in their point guard rotation of Rose and Jennings. This could lead New York to signing one of the veteran point guards in the market namely Norris Cole, Kirk Hinrich, Mario Chalmers, Nate Robinson, Jordan Farmar or Andre Miller.

The move to sign a veteran PG makes a lot of sense for the Knicks. Rose has started to play regularly and has not had issues last year with his injuries but he’s not the same player as before when he won the NBA MVP award.

Jennings is also coming of a major surgery that has caused him to lose playing time and starting spot in his previous teams.

Rose moved to New York in the trade that involved Robin Lopez and other players. He will be the starting PG with a Knicks squad that features star Carmelo Anthony and rising young player Kristaps Porzingis.

Jennings will backup Rose and will be among the bench and role players that include Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah, Justin Holiday, Kyle O’Quinn and others.

Should the Knicks acquire one of the PGs mentioned, they will have a third point guard and will have insurance in case Rose or Jennings falls to injury.

In the Knicks rumors list, Hinrich and Farmar could be better options because of their ability to play the shooting guard spot. Hinrich is also former teammates with new Knicks Rose and Noah. However, Chalmers, Robinson and Miller are also good options because of their NBA experience.
