‘Lucifer’ Season 2 Update: What are the characteristics Tom Ellis, Joe Henderson consider for mother who broke out of Hell?

As everyone is wondering who would be cast to take the role of the mother from Hell, “Lucifer” lead actor Tom Ellis and show runner Joe Henderson gives a heads up on what to expect in the show’s Season Two that will air sometime in January 2017.

Ellis in an interview with the Collider stated that the infusion of Lucifer’s mother into the show’s story line excites him more since Season One has been dealt more on the father and son hatred thing. In Season Two, Ellis expects more episodes that will reveal the nature of Lucifer’s mother, reasons why she escape Hell and most importantly who will play the character as well.

“It was the last thing I expected because all the talk had been about dad and other angels. The last thing you think of, in that equation, is the mother. So, who she is, what that means and how that infuses the mythology we’ve created on the show will be really fun to play out,” Ellis said.

Show runner Joe Henderson, on the other hand, told Design and Trend that they have not casted any actress for the role and they are also excited as to who would best fit for the role. He added that they are also looking at the possibility that Lucifer’s mom would be of the same age as Ellis or more mature that the lead stars.

“We’re excited to figure out who we’re going to cast because we think it’s going to be a big, cool, meaty role for someone. I’m excited to see who we can get and what direction we take it in, because that’s season 2.That’s one of the things we want to keep an open mind about. We just want to get the best actor,” Henderson explained.

He further narrated that Season Two will also reveal the reasons why she escape Hell and goals in doing so and why Lucifer was shivering in fear when he broke the news to his brother Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside).

Based on mythology, Lucifer and Amenadiel’s mother is someone called “Asherah,” who is a goddess popular with the ancient Israelites, despite the call of their priests to be loyal to Yahweh. It would be intriguing as to how the show would be able to combine mythology and comic character to build her role in the show.

With mom in the picture, Ellis will have to suppresses his inner romantic feelings for Chloe as he has to finish the job his “father,” commanded him to do which part of the bargain made when Lucifer’s father save Chloe from Malcolm’s wrath.

“Lucifer” is a fantasy police procedural comedy-drama television series developed by Tom Kapinos that premiered on Fox on January 25, 2016. It features a character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg taken from the comic book series “The Sandman,” which later became the protagonist of the spin-off comic book series “Lucifer” written by Mike Carey, both published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.
