Magic Lose Duhon, May Pursue PG
The depleted Orland Magic are on the hunt for another point guard following an injury to Chris Duhon. Duhon, their third-string point guard, injured his right thumb Monday and will not see action in the foreseeable future.
Three-point specialist J. J. Redick and forward Quentin Richardson also have reoccurring injuries in the past month. With the playoffs less than a month away, head coach Stan Van Gundy is looking for someone who fits into the system and can run the team as well as Duhon did.
Orlando’s President of Basketball Operations Otis Smith said there is a possibility the Magic may acquire another guard.
“It’s not just Chris,” Smith said. There’s J. J. There’s a lot of other things that you have to consider, so it would have to make some sense. You could bring in any guy to fill a roster just to fill a roster. We have not done that in the past. I don’t know if you’ve paid attention to Stan Van Gundy’s system, but we can’t just bring in a guy off the street and say, ‘OK, now play in this system.’ It just doesn’t work that way.”
