Man Who Killed Angels Pitcher in 2009 Gets 51 Years to Life
The man who was responsible for killing Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart has been sentenced to 51 years in prison by Judge Richard Toohey on Wednesday.
USA Today outlines the events of April 9, 2009, when 24-year-old Andrew Gallo T-boned Adenhart’s car, which contained Adenhart and three of his friends.
Gallo’s blood alcohol content was about three times the legal limit, as he sped through a red light at an Orange County intersection.
The 22-year-old pitcher, 20-year-old Courtney Stewart, and 25-year-old Henry Pearson died from the accident. Jon Wilhite was severely injured, but was the only one in the car to survive the crash.
After hearing statements from the victims’ families, Gallo said, “When I die, I have to look God in the face and ask him for forgiveness and mercy.”
