Manchester City Transfer News: Wilfred Bony set for Stoke City?

English Premier League (EPL) club Stoke City have launched a late transfer bid to capture Manchester City striker Wilfred Bony. The Potteries want the player on a loan deal.

Manchester City are reportedly demanding a loan fee of $2.6 million for the Ivory Coast international. Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is interested in Bony as he feels that the striker will bolster his attacking options for the season ahead, according to The Telegraph.

However, for the deal to materialize, City needs to keep paying Bony a substantial portion of his salary. The 27-year-old earns $143,985 per week at the Etihad Stadium and it won’t be possible for Stoke to pay the entire amount.

Stoke is not the only Premier League club to declare their interest in the player. A number of English clubs are ready to offer the Potteries a challenge for the striker’s capture. However, Mark Hughes is confident that they will be able to land the man from Bingerville, Côte d’Ivoire by the end of this summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Stoke City is also interested in signing West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino. But, the possibility of this deal happening depends upon West Brom being able to bring a striker of their own.

Aside from the incomings, Bet365 Stadium will also witness departures of some players. $7.52 million rated striker, Joselu is facing an uncertain future under Hughes. The player has not featured for a single minute on the field this season and will make his way out of the club if a new striker arrives.

Defenders Philipp Wollscheid and Geoff Cameron are also being tipped to leave the club by August 31, 2016.
