Matt Moore to delay return to Rays rotation

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore will delay his return to the Rays rotation and is unsure when he will be ready.

According to MLB.com, Moore threw a 55-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday and was expected to return this weekend against the Toronto Blue Jays but decided that he was not ready.

“I felt good, but good isn’t great and good isn’t 100 percent,” Moore said. “We’re looking to be 100 percent. There are still a few things in doubt that we’re not comfortable with. We’re just going to give it a couple more days and see where we’re at.”

According to the Associated Press, the Rays do not consider this a setback. They are just being cautious with Moore. Moore will throw another bullpen session on Sunday.

Moore has been on the disabled list with a sore left elbow since July 31. He aggravated his arm in his July 28 start against the New York Yankees.

Moore,23, was an All-Star in 2013 and has a record of 13-4 with a 3.41 ERA.
