Floyd Mayweather made a confession that is he was the source of the rumor that sparked the idea of him fighting Conor McGregor in what could be dubbed “Mega Fight” of the ages.

“It’s possible. It’s possible. There was a name that was shot at me. But the rumors that y’all have been hearing [are] the rumors I started. It may not be a rumor. Keep your fingers crossed. It may be a boxer versus an MMA fighter. So we just don’t know,” Mayweather said.

Mayweather’s supposed “Mega Fight” was first posted by The Sun that headlined the story that reported the two camps agreeing to terms of the profit of the fight that was supposed to take center stage by the summer with $144 million set for Mayweather and $10.1 million for McGregor.

The supposed rumors reached UFC president Dana White, who quickly told the media that the fight was purely tabloid news and that it was creation of a very imaginative mind. Plus he added that Mayweather is retired and enjoying the tour promoting his boxers.

“It’s not true; it’s just a tabloid story. And as far as I knew, Floyd is retired and he’s been on a world-wide vacation and hasn’t even been thinking of fighting,” White explained.

The story would not have flared up not until McGregor replied on his social media with a post of their supposed promotional poster that really got people wondering if the fight is bound to happen.

Money has recently been teasing the media with a possible comeback and is just waiting for the perfect opportunity and name of the opponent that he has in mind. He was in conversation with CBS and Showtime for a possible comeback but was really busy promoting his trademarks TMT 50 and TBE 50. “TMT” stands for “The Money Team,” and “TBE” stands for “The Best Ever.”

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has openly stated that he is opening the doors for Mayweather’s camp to make a dialogue with Manny Pacquiao for a possible rematch although Mayweather is insisting that he is demanding that “$100 million or more better” and he will think of coming off retirement.

Pacquiao has yet to make a response to the said offer as he is still busy with the Philippine election where he is running for a seat in the Senate. Aside from Pacquiao other names that have come in mind are Amir Khan and Gennady Golovkin.
