Michael Turner arrested for DUI following MNF win
Following the Atlanta Falcons’ 27-21 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, Falcons running back Michael Turner was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and speeding early Tuesday morning.
The Associated Press reported that Turner, 30, was pulled over by police for driving at 97 mph. The officer smelled alcohol and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation. Turner was sent to Gwinnett County jail before being released two hours later on bond.
The Falcons are aware of Turner’s arrest and released this statement on their official website.
“We are aware of the situation involving Michael and are in the process of gathering more information. Because this is now a legal matter, the club will have no further comment at this time.”
Turner rushed for 42 yards on 17 carries and scored a touchdown in his team’s win over Denver. His touchdown was his 51st with the Falcons, a franchise record, notes the AP.
Turner is one of the top running backs in the league. Since joining the Falcons in 2008, he has rushed for 5,355 yards and scored 51 touchdowns.
