Mike Nolan headed to the Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons have made a coaching move by hiring a new defensive coordinator.
According to The Associated Press, the Falcons say that they have hired former San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan as their offensive coordinator, replacing Brian VanGorder. Mike Nolan brings with him head coaching experience, as well as close to a decade and a half experience as a defensive coordinator.
Dirk Koetter will be the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons next season, taking over for Mike Mularky. Mularky accepted the head coaching position with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This is what Mike Smith had to say to The Associated Press, regarding the addition of Mike Nolan to the Atlanta Falcons organization:
“Mike Nolan is an established coordinator in this league. Mike has a history of developing physically intimidating defensive units, and we are fortunate to have him join our staff.”
According to ajc.com, if Mike Nolan cannot pinpoint the problems with the Atlanta Falcons defense, then they will need to make changes in some positions. Not to many people no football from a defensive perspective, as does Mike Nolan.
Nolan brings a proven track record with him to Atlanta and their defense is sure to improve immediately.
