Joe Rogan says McGregor vs. Mayweather boxing match will go to a decision

The internet was set on fire by a rumored match between UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. If it ever happens, it will be a million dollar fight that could be the most lucrative match in the history of combat sports.

However, there are a lot of questions to answer before a match of that magnitude ever happens. Will it be a boxing match? Will it be a fight inside the Octagon?

In the recent episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan gave his thoughts on a possible McGregor vs. Mayweather match. He mentioned that Mayweather will win the boxing match but McGregor could very well last until the final round and the result will be a decision.

“If he can survive, he’s not diminished too much. And Mayweather’s not a murderous puncher. He’s not a Canelo Alvarez or Gennady Golovkin. Golovkin is a bad fight for him. Someone like that is a bad fight for him, a murderous puncher, because most likely they’re gonna take him out. But Mayweather, it’s very possible he is gonna get to the decision,” Rogan said via MMA Fighting.

On the other hand, Rogan also said that the Mayweather won’t last inside the Octagon against the UFC featherweight champion.

“If Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather fight in MMA, Conor McGregor will f*ck him up. He will f*ck him up,” he said.

The 39-year-old retired, undefeated boxer told Fight Hype that he started the rumor of a McGregor vs. Mayweather fight. However, he said that the match has a possibility of happening if the right terms and rules will be agreed upon by both sides.

“It’s possible. It’s possible. There was a name that was shot at me. But the rumors that y’all have been hearing the rumors I started. It may not be a rumor. Keep your fingers crossed. It may be a boxer versus an MMA fighter. So we just don’t know,” Mayweather said.
