Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz’s UFC 196 press conference on Thursday was a heated affair. The press conference almost saw a brawl like situation but the Nevada Athletic Commission said that no one will be penalized.
Yes, that is a huge relief for McGregor and Diaz who are scheduled to fight this weekend.
“UFC president Dana White handled the situation,” NAC executive director Bob Bennett told MMA Fighting.
The incident happened after the press conference. When both the UFC fighters were on stage with UFC president Dana White, McGregor punched Diaz’s right hand away from his face. That was enough to heat things up.
Security and other staff members along with Dana White immediately rushed to separate both the fighters. Fortunately enough, the brawl was handled and diffused quickly. Diaz however, threw a kick towards McGregor but he missed hitting him.
According to his team, Diaz did not injure his hand as a result of the punch. McGregor however, claims that he has broken Diaz’s wrist.
“The man was afraid to look me dead in the eye. So he put a frame out in front of him and I quickly snatched it and broke his wrist,” McGregor said.
