Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is yet to announce her return to the Octagon, but rumors continue to swirl regarding her next opponent. Will it be Amanda Nunes or Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino?
Ronda Rousey was last seen in action in November when she had her first loss against Holly Holm at UFC 193. With her first defeat, ‘Rowdy’ admitted that she have contemplated a suicide after the fight. Luckily, Rousey managed to overcome this trauma and ready herself to fight again inside the Octagon.
UFC president Dana White revealed that “Rowdy” will be fighting whoever is the champion at the time she decided to return. When Rousey was dethroned, no female fighter has managed to defend the title. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes is eyeing to fight Ronda Rousey at UFC 205.
However, according to Fox Sports, Ronda Rousey had talked to the UFC about her possible return before the end of the year. The potential fight is expected to take place on December 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Recently, there have been talks about a possible fight between Rousey and Cristiane “Cyborg” Justiniano. After defeating Lina Lansberg at UFC Fight Night 95, “Cyborg” challenged “Rowdy” to fight her at 140 pounds.
“I watched her shadowbox, and the shadow won,” she said. “My last fight, I broke the nose of the girl in three places. And if I fight her, she’ll have to do surgery on her face after. I’m not kidding.”
UFC president Dana White supports the fight and revealed that Rousey also wants to fight “Cyborg”. However, there is no official confirmation on what weight will the fight take place. Justiano’s camp wanted the fight to happen at 140 pounds while Rousey prefers to face her at 135 pounds.
Also, the fight is expected to happen after Ronda Rousey successfully reclaimed the women’s bantamweight belt, with Amanda Nunes as her potential opponent. The MMA fans are surely waiting for “Rowdy’s” return to the Octagon and see the belt on her waist.
