Nate Diaz says McGregor-Mayweather fight is all but ‘publicity stunt,’ stress he could be their asses too

Welterweight contender Nate Diaz went on an offensive saying that the supposed “super fight” featuring Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather is just a publicity stunt to hide the fact the feisty Irishman lost to him. The American mixed martial artist even went on to say that he could easily knock both McGregor and Mayweather if there are chances.

Diaz was interviewed on “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani and he stated that the fight between McGregor against Mayweather is a front to hide the fact that he whipped McGregor into submission back at UFC 196 and the supposed “super fight” is just a means to save McGregor’s face from critics.

“I hear all this Mayweather-McGregor sh*t, and I feel like that’s just a big old publicity stunt to hide the fact that he got his ass whooped. It’s rumored somebody is letting out because they’re both benefitting off each other’s fan bases and they’re both building off of it. They don’t care if it happens or not, they’re both winning now from the talk even happening. That’s the truth about what’s really going. The media are working their way and they love it. They’re probably having dinner together every night,” Diaz explained.

He added that McGregor is using the publicity stunt to gain the needed leverage for their supposed rematch, but Diaz noted that he will dictate the negotiations and claimed that McGregor needs him more than he needs him. He even hit Mayweather and stated that he can beat both in one night if chances are to take both inside the ring.

“You just got boxed up. You didn’t get tapped out. He got beat up and shot. And I hear Mayweather saying [McGregor] wins most of his fights by fighting stand-up. I’m like, not with me. He was losing the stand-up part. He took a shot that was his way out. I just think it’s all fake and phony, and people should recognize that. Let’s see that, Mayweather. I call your bluff. Fight Mayweather, mother*cker. Let’s see how that goes. I’ll be right here sitting back like, okay. And what’s going to happen? Mayweather is going to f*cking whoop his ass in a boxing match,” Diaz said.

Diaz was supposed to meet McGregor at UFC 200 slated in July but was called off after McGregor refused to fly into Las Vegas to promote the fight. The incident gained the ire of UFC president Dana White that together with UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta that McGregor was taken out of the supposed rematch.

Diaz believes that the rematch will happen, but it will be on his terms and not on the terms set by McGregor since he was the one who beats the hell out of him with a rare naked choke that shock not only McGregor but fight fans as well.
