A Ronda Rousey vs. Conor McGregor matchup has been the talk in the MMA world these days, well, not inside the octagon matchup but who’s the bigger star matchup. There is no doubt McGregor has solidified his stature in the UFC, but when talking about who’s the biggest star in the UFC, Ronda Rousey might have had an edge over ‘the Notorious’, at least according to UFC boss Dana White.
“By far. Not even close. By far the biggest star. Ronda Rousey is such a big star. When you go down to Brazil, they don’t care who you are. They want the Brazilian to whup your ass. When Ronda went down there, they cheered for Ronda over the Brazilian. Never seen that before in my life, and will probably never see it again. That’s how big Ronda Rousey is.”
According to The Washington Post, the last time UFC fans saw Rousey inside the octagon was November of last year and November of this year, UFC will unleash the biggest fight card in the history of the promotion. McGregor will headline the event which will happen in Madison Square Garden, New York City, the first MMA event in the city in the last two decades.
McGregor’s second fight against Nate Diaz is considered to be the highest-grossing pay-per-view in the history of the UFC. Come Nov. 12, he will have a chance to break that record against UFC lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez with the lightweight belt on the line.
McGregor has become a massive figure in the world of MMA, but according to sources, at her peak, Rousey still beats ‘the Notorious’ in terms of popularity among networks, magazines and Hollywood producers. McGregor has that kind of popularity, but they say not at Rousey’s level.
So who do you think wins in a Ronda Rousey vs. Conor McGregor popularity contest?
Meanwhile, Rousey’s return is still a question for many UFC fans. She’s been linked to many fighters asking for a matchup, but no public statement yet from the superstar.
