Whether Brock Lesnar wins or loses at UFC 200, he will for surely make his appearance at SummerSlam 2016 as he is highly speculated to face Randy Orton, who will make his WWE return after suffering a shoulder injury.
Lesnar is seen in the thick of things as he will still have to get through Mark Hunt at UFC 200 that will take face this weekend for his one-off fight. The WWE is hoping that Lesnar would not get any serious injuries in his fight as they plan to hype his SummerSlam match with Orton before the fight. Betting sites are also favoring Orton to meet with Lesnar on Aug. 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Wrestlezone reported that Orton is set to report to the WWE Performance Center next week to begin his training. Orton is still pending for medical clearance to return to active ring duties. Orton has been out of WWE action since his shoulder surgery back in December and hints of his comeback has been swirling as he will be seen advertised in some WWE live events leading to SummerSlam.
However, putting Orton inside the ring with Lesnar might be put to question as fans will surely see more suplexes that might trigger Orton’s shoulder and neck injuries. It seems Orton knows that he will be facing Lesnar one way or the other and the much-needed rest could have been the factor for his long absence in the WWE.
The Inquisitr noted that Lesnar was slated to face Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam as the two have been hype with their feud dating back in April. But with injuries plaguing Wyatt, the WWE decided to look for another WWE superstar who could best fit for Lesnar’s opponent come to SummerSlam.
Even betting sites have listed Orton to be Lesnar’s opponent. Other WWE superstars namely Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens have also surfaced as possible list of opponents at SummerSlam. It was announced on Raw that Lesnar’s opponent for SummerSlam will be announced on Thursday’s edition of SmackDown.
Both Orton and Lesnar are scheduled to show up for the draft night for the brand split and it is reported that it will also be the time wherein both WWE superstars will present for the face-to-face stare down that will officially hype their SummerSlam bout.
