With a lot of UFC fighters seemingly moving to Bellator (and some vice versa), talks about a cross-promotion fight between the two companies have slowly been materializing online. This could also be attributed to comments made by Bellator MMA welterweight Michael “Venom” Page, who said that a dream Bellator MMA vs UFC match would be “incredible.”
“(If) the UFC and Bellator could somehow work together, and do joint bouts it would be incredible. It would bring me back to those WWE days,” shared Page with FloCombat. “Man, it was immense, I remember watching those shows and that changed the game for them. If the UFC and Bellator could just shake hands and work together on a few things then it would be better for the fighters, better for the fans and better for everyone.”
Presently though, it’s fighters who are breaking and shaking hands with their fight promotion companies.
One of the most recent “transfers” involved former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov, who is rumored to already be seeing his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night in Belfast next month. On the UFC’s end, the company has also bid farewell to some of its more popular fighters like Benson Henderson, Matt Mitrione, Phil Davis and most recently Chael Sonnen.
And with so many fighters beginning to criss-cross between promotions, one could not help but fantasize about a gigantic bout that would pit fighter from both promotions. Thankfully, Forbes did it all for us, and here were the most notable ones, by our account.
Bellator MMA vs UFC main cards
Cris Cyborg versus Julia Budd
Despite having both been part of Strikeforce, the 145-pound women’s fighters have never entered the ring together. And Cyborg needs someone who can make HER weight. Budd seems to be that fighter.
Conor McGregor versus Michael Chandler
Actually, at this point, if you put anyone against the Notorious, that fight is bound to make money. But with Chandler presently being Bellator MMAs face, it would really make sense to pit him against the face of the UFC.
Forbes calls it McGregor via TKO by the way.
Ronda Rousey versus Anastasia Yankova
Because it could be some way to securely draw Rousey out from her hiatus. In fact Bellator does not even have a legitimate bantamweight division, and Yankova could be the closest thing to a challenge for Rowdy.
If she ever comes back.
