As CM Punk or commonly known as Phillip Jack “Phil” Brooks gets ready for his UFC debut, he is busy with promotional tours as he is seen in a video together with Benny the Bull and Tommy Hawk in a UFC promotional video for the UFC debut at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
In the video, CM Punk had fun with mascots Benny The Bull and Tommy Hawk, the official mascots for the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks while promoting the return of UFC to the United Center in Chicago on July 23. The event will feature former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm against Valentina Shevchenko. Other fight cards for the event includes Anthony “Rumble” Johnson taking on Glover Teixeira and Edson Barboza versus Gilbert Melendez.
It was not clear if CM Punk himself will be included on the fight card at the United Center but one man is hoping to get that chance to square off with him inside the Octagon and that is Mickey Gall. Gall has a professional MMA record of 2-0; his second fight was his UFC debut, which earned him the right to fight CM Punk.
The two were supposed to fight at UFC 199 but the fight was called off when CM Punk’s doctor told him he would need surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back, a worsening injury from his WWE days. The surgery was on February 10, with a recovery period of four to six weeks, delayed his previously targeted summer debut. However, he still expects to fight at least once in 2016.
Since CM Punk has been on the road to recovery, Gall has been constantly calling him out to book the fight and wants to fight him at 100 percent, so that no excuses would be made if they meet inside the Octagon. There were rumors that Punk will make his comeback with the WWE, but Gall immediately countered it with a post on Twitter stating that he and Punk are set to meet anytime this summer.
Guys. It's all good. The fight is still on. Minor surgery. I wish @CMPunk a healthy & speedy recovery. I want you at 100%, check that, #200

Punk stated in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he will work with his doctors and make sure that he is 100 percent and ready to fight. He added that he does not want to make any predictions as to when he will make his UFC debut, but assured fight fans that he is going for an upset.
“I’ve learned from my past mistakes and I’m not going to say a date that everyone’s gonna get married to, and then I’m going to have to hear about how I’m never going to fight. I’m going to fight. It’s going to be this year. And like I said, I see the doctor tomorrow, and I’m going to talk with him about all kinds of other extracurricular things I can do to probably speed this along…see if I can start doing acupuncture again, things like that. In my mind, that card at the Garden (possibly in November) would be a nice second fight, but I don’t know how realistic that is, because again, I don’t want to say things that people are going to be taking to heart…Don’t worry haters, I’m going to fight, it’s going to be f*****g fun and awesome, and you’re going to be real upset,” Punk explained.
Only time will tell when Punk gets inside the Octagon, but for Gall, it is worth the wait to beat Punk and then start his career getting to fight some of the big names in the UFC locker room. Gall is in no hurry and wants to wait until the time comes for him to take on Punk and hopefully that time will be this summer.
