UFC Rumors: Jon Jones to fight Anthony Johnson after temporary suspension? UFC President thinks so

Jon Jones is the current interim UFC light heavyweight champion. He has not yet defended his belt due to the temporary suspension he is serving right now. But this UFC rumors report is suggesting that Jones might face Anthony Johnson after he became cleared from his penalty.

The UFC rumors report regarding the fight between Jones and Johnson was raised by UFC president, Dana White. He thought about this possible match between the two fighters during an appearance on a podcast show named, “UFC Unfiltered.”

Johnson’s recent fight was against Glover Teixeira. He defeated his opponent via KO in the first round of the match at UFC 202. This possibly puts him in contention for the UFC light heavyweight title of Daniel Cormier.

But it is looking like Anthony will have to fight Jones first. As stated by the UFC President, this is needed in order to determine the number one contender for Cormier’s belt.

Dana also said that Jon’s temporary suspension for his positive drug test from USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) might not be for long. However, he is still unsure when will the fighter be cleared by the drug agency.

Jones was given a temporary suspension due to his urine sample that tested positive for a banned substance prior to his scheduled match with Cormier in UFC 200.

Jon’s last fight was against Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197. He beat Saint Preux via unanimous decision, and also won the interim UFC light heavyweight belt.

Despite his recent controversies, Jones is still a dangerous fighter since he only had one defeat from his 17 UFC matches.
