Ronda Rousey is yet to announce her return to the Octagon but her name emerged to be the next opponent of the new UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.
After Ronda Rousey, the champions next to her failed to defend the title at least once. Holly Holm was defeated by Miesha Tate, who was recently dethroned by Amanda Nunes. It seems like none of them can surpass what ‘Rowdy’ did when she was still the champion.
However, Ronda Rousey has not given any hint on when she will return to the Octagon. UFC president Dana White said that when Rousey decided to make a comeback, she will fight whoever the champion is.

“Yeah, Ronda’s going to make that decision,” White said during UFC 200’s post-event show on FS1. “Hopefully – I would like to see her fight this year, but it could be early next year too.
“Whoever the champion is at the time is who Ronda would fight.”
Aside from Rousey, two other female MMA fighters are hoping for a title shot – Julianna Pena and Valentina Shevchenko. Julianna Pena (8-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) strengthened her chance for a title shot when she defeated former title challenger Cat Zingano. Pena expressed his desire to fight for the belt when she won at UFC 200.
Valentina Shevchenko (13-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is also hoping to fight Amanda Nunes. Shevchenko succeeded to defeat Holly Holm in the UFC Fox 20 main event. Before the fight, Holly Holm was the favorite to fight for the title but everything was taken away from her when she lost for the second time.
According to MMA Junkie, Amanda Nunes admitted that she wanted to fight Ronda Rousey for her first title defense.
“I look for the biggest fights,” Nunes said. “Only Ronda Rousey, if she comes back. I’m ready for her and I want to make this fight for you guys. A big card in New York City – I hope so.”
Ronda Rousey is currently working out to get in fighting shape as soon as possible. With her first loss, ‘Rowdy’ has surely learned many things and made lots of improvement to grab the title back.
