MSU’s Branden Dawson and Adreian Payne out for win over Penn State
If you were hoping to see Branden Dawson or Adreian Payne play Wednesday night for Michigan State University against Penn State you are going to be disappointed.
Wednesday morning there was a “busted lip” and some wall damage that resulted in a police investigation. The altercatication was between Dawson and Payne at Nittany Lion Inn reports, Detroit Free Press.
Lisa Powers, Penn State director of public information, said, “It was verbal at first, and then they began to throw punches.” She also said that neither needed medical attention. The only physical harm reported was of a “busted lip.”
Spartans’ head coach Tom Izzo said, We’ll deal with this appropriately, and the players will willingly accept responsibility for paying for any property damage. I’ve spent my entire afternoon meeting with the players involved, and they are both sincerely remorseful. What makes matters even more confusing is that they are off-campus roommates. As a result of their actions, neither one will start tonight’s game.”
The AP reports that Police Chief Tyrone Parham said that the investigation was still going on and that both boys are considered victims.
The Spartans still won the game 81-72.
