After the Game 1 of the NBA Finals 2016, several sports analysts and enthusiasts are predicting that the Golden State Warriors will be winning the NBA championship title. However, in Game 2, the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to be a tougher opponent since they will be looking to bounce back.
Many were surprised with the outstanding performance of the Golden State Warriors’ bench in Game 1. The Warriors seemed to be in big trouble when the ‘Splash Brothers’, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, were struggling in the game only contributing 20 points combined. However, Shaun Livingston served as a hero for the team by scoring 20 points, four rebounds, and three assists and led the Warriors to get their first win in the series.
“Don’t matter what you do with Steph and Klay, don’t matter what you do with Draymond [Green],” James said in the postgame press conference. “Give up 45 points off the bench and 25 points off turnovers on the road, it’s not a good ingredient to win.”
The Cavaliers ‘Big Three’, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, were all productive in Game 1 but still not enough to grab the W. With their Game 1 loss, Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue thinks of another strategy that they will use against the Warriors in Game 2. Lue wants the Cavaliers especially LeBron James to play a faster offense in order to avoid the Warriors effective defense on him.
“I just told LeBron I need him to play faster,” Lue said Friday. “I need him to pick up the pace for us offensively, getting the ball out and just beginning to play faster.
Coach Tyronn Lue explained that playing slowly is what the Warriors want them to do. It seems to be a risky strategy since the Warriors are used to a fast-paced offense. However, if the Cleveland Cavaliers execute it better than the Warriors and they still manage to limit Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, there is a possibility that they can tie the series.
Game 2 of the NBA Finals 2016 between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be on Sunday 8 p.m. at the Oracle Arena in Golden State.
