Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat got blown out in their final game of the 2016 NBA Playoffs by the Toronto Raptors and will now prepare for the 2016 offseason, according to the latest NBA rumors, the Florida franchise will try to target top free agents LeBron James or Kevin Durant along re-signing center Hassan Whiteside this summer.
According to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, the Heat would have won against the Raptors in their Eastern Conference semifinals if not for the injuries to Chris Bosh and Whiteside. With their elimination, Smith claims that Wade will push for a reunion with LeBron James in Miami or try to recruit Kevin Durant this summer depending on how their teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder, respectively, fare in the 2016 NBA Playoffs.
Smith claims that if James and Durant fail to win an NBA title, there is a good chance that Wade and the Heat can convince one of them to join Miami next season. The Heat might have the budget to re-sign Whiteside and then sign another expensive free agent like James or Durant this summer depending on their other moves this offseason.
This will not be the first time that Wade will recruit James from Cleveland to Miami. The infamous “decision” some years back is still fresh in the minds of NBA fans when LeBron left the Cavs and formed a “super team” with Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami. NBA rumors will now start of another “super team” in Miami possibly with Wade, Bosh and Durant or Wade, Bosh and James once again.
Durant has been linked to a lot of NBA teams this summer as he is expected to explore free agency for the first time in his career. NBA rumors will surround Kevin Durant and LeBron James this offseason with many reports linking them to title contenders like the Miami Heat.
