The Golden State Warriors are set to battle the Cleveland Cavaliers in their aim to defend their NBA championship. The 2016 NBA Finals starts Thursday but already the Warriors are being linked to NBA trade rumors that they want to improve their roster in the upcoming 2016 offseason.
Recently Warriors players Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green were all praises for their rivals from OKC to add to speculations that Golden State is already recruiting for next season. Iguodala said that players “want to play” with a star like Kevin Durant and Green also said that he was impressed by how Adams performed this season.
“I was looking for him, and he happened to be looking for me at the same time. But, you know, like I said, I told him ‘I love what you do on the floor.’ Regardless of if you have instances or run-ins or whatever, at the end of the day, isn’t that how the game is supposed to be played? You’re supposed to battle. And I think so many times nowadays that’s looked upon as a negative. But I respect a guy who battles,” Green said via Fox Sports about the Kiwi big man, who had great numbers in the West Finals series.
“He’s been that way since he came into the league. He’s battled since the time that I’ve faced him. It’s incredible. I respect a guy like that, because there are times that you’re scrutinized, there are times where other teams hate you, players on the other teams hate you. And everybody can’t deal with that, everybody not liking you. But to stay true to that no matter what and battle for your team, I respect guys like that. And I wanted to make sure he knew that.”
The NBA trade rumors involving Adams is expected as he showed he belonged in the starting line-up with averages of 10.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in the 2016 postseason. He averaged a double-double of 11.0 points and 11.8 rebounds in the match-up against the San Antonio Spurs.
Getting Durant would be tough for the Warriors with the OKC star being targeted as well by multiple teams like the Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs, among others.
However, Adams might be available on the trading block if the Warriors can work out a sign-and-trade involving Harrison Barnes or a three-team trade that involves another NBA team.
It’s a difficult decision for the Thunder as Adams brings defense and toughness for the team. But with Serge Ibaka and Enes Kanter in the line-up they can risk giving up the big man to get a quality player like Harrison Barnes in the latest NBA trade rumors.
