NBA Rumors: Bulls, Celtics interested in Clippers star Blake Griffin

The Los Angeles Clippers has been part of a lot of NBA rumors and speculations for the past several days following their elimination in the first round of the 2016 NBA playoffs. The Clippers are bound for an uncertain offseason full of questions about their three stars.

Many analysts think that the Clippers need to review their roster and do a rebuild. The trio of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan do not seem to work in the postseason following their fifth-straight exit in the playoffs without reaching the conference finals.

Nonetheless, Paul is still their best player, despite being 31 years old next season and Jordan is entering the second year of the four-year, $88 million contract he signed last offseason. Griffin is the likely candidate to be traded this summer following a disappointing season in terms of his health and other controversies.

According to a report by Sporting News, the 27-year-old missed a ton of games last season following a quadriceps injury but also broke his hand after punching a team employee. It was a public relation’s disaster for the Clippers who also explored trading their five-time All-Star at the deadline.

The report noted that the Clippers received and considered offers from other teams, but they are not going to let Griffin go for a very low price. The Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics inquired about Griffin at the deadline and are the likely destination for him this summer.

The Bulls have several assets like two-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, promising big man Bobby Portis and a first-round pick in this year’s draft to dangle for a deal. On the other hand, the Celtics have a better shot in acquiring Griffin due to several top draft picks this year as well as young players with potential.
