NBA Rumors: Bulls signing Stephen Jackson? Veteran claims Rajon Rondo, Jimmy Butler want him in Chicago

The Chicago Bulls could land Stephen Jackson, who is attempting an NBA comeback at 38 years old and who has been out of the league the last two seasons, according to NBA rumors.

The controversial veteran wingman stated that stars Jimmy Butler and Rajon Rondo want him to sign in Chicago.

In an interview with HoopsHype, Jackson claimed that Butler and Rondo has contacted him about signing with the Bulls.

“Well, actually not a lot of people know that Jimmy has been calling me. We’ve been talking for like three months now. Even [Rajon] Rondo has been calling me, they really want me on the Bulls team,” Jackson said.

“I’ve been talking to a lot of guys, because guys know what I bring. There’s not many guys like me. There’s probably one or two guys in the NBA like me that can play both ways and don’t mind really shutting the guy down.”

Jackson is a veteran of 14 seasons but has not played the last two years. His last stint was with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he just played in nine games in the 2013-2014 season.

Jackson’s best year in the NBA came when he played for the Golden State Warriors in the 2008-2009 season when he averaged 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

In the same interview, Jackson said that he is a great teammate although the most memorable moment in his career was the brawl against the Detroit Pistons as a member of the Indiana Pacers in 2004.

“I’m a winner, I’ve been in the playoffs many years. Guys know I’m a great teammate, Tim Duncan called me the ultimate teammate. I know how to play good for the guy next to me. I’m getting calls and I will be ready and that’s the biggest part,” Jackson added.

If the Bulls sign Jackson, he will be one of the primary wingmen off the bench and will serve as back-up to Butler at the small forward position or Dwyane Wade at the shooting guard position.
