NBA Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins demanding trade to Los Angeles? Star bigman says Lakers his favorite team

With a simple question and answer segment on Twitter, DeMarcus Cousins opened speculations by declaring that the Los Angeles Lakers were his “favorite team” while growing up. As a result, new NBA rumors of the Sacramento Kings big man moving to L.A. exploded during the weekend.

An NBA fan asked Cousins who was his favorite team growing up and Cousins promptly answered.

The DeMarcus Cousins to Los Angeles Lakers rumors have been discussed many times in this offseason but Sacramento Kings general manager Vlade Divac said many times that they are not letting go of their superstar big man.

The Kings are one of the most troubled franchises in the league, with various issues within the team, coaches and even ownership. Cousins has not been reported to have demanded a trade from the team but he has criticized the team’s moves, including their draft selection in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Cousins has also been linked to other teams, like the Boston Celtics, which has the young prospects and future picks to offer Sacramento. However, there appears to be no imminent deal involving the Kings big man with Boston or any other team.

Cousins signed a four-year deal worth $65.16 million with the Kings in 2014 and has two years left in his contract with the Kings before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2018. If the Kings does not improve their roster and performance the next two years, it’s likely that Cousins will leave Sacramento when he becomes a free agent.

The Lakers are still in rebuilding mode and expected to be one of the worst teams in the Western Conference next season. However, they have the trade pieces to make a deal work with Sacramento.

Los Angeles can offer any combination of their young guys, including D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson to Sacramento in a possible trade with the Kings. Sacramento might agree to a package from L.A. if they believe the NBA rumors that Cousins won’t stay with them in the future.
