NBA Rumors: Is Kobe Bryant preparing Buddy Hield for becoming a Laker?

Kobe Bryant is tutoring Buddy Hield in special workout sessions ahead of the 2016 NBA drafts. Hield is considered as the third overall draft pick by many experts after Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram.

Oklahoma’s guard Buddy Hield impressed scouts with his shooting prowess, but his ball handling and defensive abilities drew criticism from several quarters. Few weeks before the draft, Hield is trying to upgrade those areas of the game. According to Chad Ford of ESPN, the 22-year-old guard is getting lessons from Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant for an all-round improvement.

“Hield hears the criticism and has been spending most of the past six weeks tightening up his handle and working on his explosiveness in an effort to improve his lateral quickness. He has even received some on-court tutoring from Kobe Bryant.” Wrote Ford.

Hield earlier revealed that his stellar show in Elite 8 round of the NCAA championship was due to Kobe’s presence in the stands. Bryant was also impressed with Hield’s show in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 and decided to work with the promising guard ahead of the June 23 NBA draft. Hield was a sensational college basketball player last season and won Wooden Award, Naismith Award, and Oscar Robertson Award.

For Hield, getting an opportunity to learn the on-court tricks from one of the greatest players of the league is something that can’t be measured.

With the Lakers holding the second overall pick, the chances of Hield landing in Los Angeles looks slim now. But with potential trades on the card, anything is possible.
