Latest NBA rumors has the Minnesota Timberwolves interested in Chicago Bull star forward Jimmy Butler. If the Timberwolves land Butler from the trade market, he would reunite with former Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, who is now the head coach/general manager of the Minnesota squad.
ESPN reports that the Timberwolves will try to get Butler from the Bulls and are prepared to give up their No. 5 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. A straight Butler for the fifth overall pick would be unfair for Chicago and the Bulls will likely demand more from the Timberwolves.
Aside from Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, who are part of the core of the franchise, all can be made available for the Bulls in exchange for Butler. If Chicago wants a trade, they might demand a trade package that can include Ricky Rubio, Zach LaVine, Shabazz Muhammad, Gorgui Dieng and the No. 5 pick.
The two-time NBA All-Star and three-time All-Defensive Team member Butler played for Tom Thibodeau, who was hired by Minnesota this offseason, from 2011 to 2015. Butler has also been linked by NBA rumors to various teams like the Boston Celtics.
Last year for the Bulls, under rookie coach Fred Hoiberg, Butler averaged 20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Chicago did not make the playoffs under Hoiberg as there are NBA rumors that there is a rift among management, coaches and players.
