With the departure of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook is automatically declared as the new face of the Thunder’s franchise. Being the main man of OKC, the ‘triple-double’ machine is expected to win the MVP award and defeat Stephen Curry and LeBron James.

In the latest MVP odds posted by Bovada, Russell Westbrook ranked number one defeating LeBron James, Stephen Curry and his former teammate Kevin Durant.

Russell Westbrook became the center of controversies this offseason after Kevin Durant headed to Bay Area. Rumors spread that the 27-year-old point guard will not be renegotiating or extending his contract with the Thunder. Luckily, Westbrook made up his mind, one month after Durant left, and signed a three-year extension with OKC.

Before he made his decision, Stephen Curry and LeBron James were the favorites to win the MVP award. However, things have changed after he signed the extension. In the 2015-16 NBA season, Russell Westbrook averaged 23.5 points, 10.4 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.3 blocks per game.

Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry will undeniably dominate the Western Conference next season. However, both superstars will need to sacrifice for the team and may not give the numbers expected from them by the fans.On the other hand, LeBron James still holds the upper hand to win the MVP award.

If Westbrook wins the award, there is no doubt that the Oklahoma City Thunder will be one of the best teams in the Western Conference in the 2016-17 NBA season.
