NBA Trade Rumors: Jimmy Butler still available? No says Chicago as Bulls in ‘win-now’ mode

It’s time to remove Jimmy Butler’s name off the NBA trade rumors section after the Chicago Bulls management reportedly declared their All-Star is off the market in the trade market.

Zach Lowe of ESPN claims, according to his sources, that Butler is not available “for now” after talks of the star forward being shipped to either the Boston Celtics or Minnesota Timberwolves earlier in the 2016 offseason.

Butler, who signed a five-year $95 million contract with the Bulls last year, is now part of the Chicago’s “win-now” group that includes free agent acquisitions Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo, both signed this summer.

The surprise acquisition of Wade and cheap signing of Rondo this summer have stopped the NBA trade rumors of rebuilding the Bulls. Earlier in the summer, Chicago also shipped injury prone Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks in the deal that got them starting center Robin Lopez.

The Bulls are a different team from last season with other players leaving in free agency like Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah. Gasol went to the San Antonio Spurs while Noah will be joining the Knicks next season.

The Bulls were part of the NBA trade rumors talk earlier this summer and reports said that the Chicago was looking to part ways with Butler. The Celtics and Timberwolves were the teams mentioned in the speculations as both could offer the Bulls high picks in the 2016 NBA Draft. However, no deal was finalized by draft day.
