Kyrie Irving broke his silence and unlike his friend, Chris Brown, the 24-year old Cleveland Cavaliers playmaker stated he has nothing but “love and compassion” for ex-girlfriend Kehlani, who recently was rushed to hospital after a failed suicide attempt.
TMZ reported that Irving blamed “PartyNextDoor” also known as Jahron Anthony Brathwaite for the whole incident. He explained that when the pictures came out, he and Kehlani were not a couple yet.
“I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all of this nonsense that could have been avoided. Me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out,” Irving stated on his post over Twitter and then erased the said post.
However, FTW managed to preserve the tweets Irving made and Irving also stated that he has nothing but “love and compassion” for his ex-girlfriend who was placed on a psychiatric hold and would be assessed if she is no longer a threat to herself.
“Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family. My only focus the Game I love to play every night,” Irving added.
The New York Post reported that it was hard for Irving to keep his focus on the ball game considering the weight of the events taking place off the court. It was even harder for him since he is being dragged along in the issue.
“It’s unfortunate that it’s received so much attention but it’s become bigger because of a post that was misunderstood. Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family. My only focus the Game I love to play every night.”
But Irving stated that, despite the difficulty of the incident, he remains focused in leading his team to the post season. The Cavaliers are 53-22 in the Eastern Conference and would want to go into the Playoffs with an upper hand.
“It hasn’t been difficult. I’ve been through a ton of adversity in my life. It’s nothing anyone can say that I can’t get through. [With] everything surrounding our team it’s crazy to think we’re still in first place and we’re still the team to beat, honestly, regardless of what anybody else says.’’
With everything that is happening to Irving’s private life teammate LeBron James and coach Tyronn Lue have expressed their support all the way. James, who surpassed Dominique Wilkins in the NBA’s all-time scoring list, stated Irving knows that he will support him no matter.
“He’s got my support, and he knows it,’’ James added.
On the other hand, Lue assured Irving that the team’s support goes beyond the basketball court and that he is surrounded by people who truly cares for him.
“I just think as a team we’re all there for him. It’s our job to make sure he’s OK, he’s in good hands. And just being around his teammates and being around the guys he competes with every night makes him at ease,’’ Lue explained.
Kehlani was rushed to the hospital Monday and was then placed on psychiatric hold after doctors found out that she tried to commit suicide. The 20-year old even posted pictures of her being dozed by an IV and a picture of PND. She also stated that she never cheated on Irving and thanked PND for “saving” her life.
With everything that happened during the week, Irving hopes that everyone would just move on and leave people’s private lives alone.
