Jimmy Butler Contract: Four-team swap suggests the Bulls to send Butler and Taj Gibson to Celtics and Nuggets?

The Chicago Bulls are under a lot of pressure to deliver this season especially after their back-to-back losses in their preseason games. Rumors suggest the Bulls to a four-team trade that would send Jimmy Butler to the Boston Celtics while Taj Gibson goes to the Denver Nuggets.

Aside from the Bulls, Celtics, and Nuggets also included in the proposed deal are the Sacramento Kings. In the deal, Butler ends up with the Celtics while Gibson together with DeMarcus Cousins goes to the Nuggets. The Bulls will then receive Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari, and a first rounder to next year’s draft courtesy of a Celtics’ swap with the Brooklyn Nets.

However, the Kings will receive Amir Johnson, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and a 2017 pick from Memphis Grizzlies courtesy of the Nuggets.

Many see that the Celtics would rather go on the course with their roster and not waste such talented assets. The Celtics may wait until Gordon Hayward becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer. But considering their need for this season, the Celtics may take a look at this deal with Butler.

Getting Butler will give the Celtics the need strength it needs in the shooting guard department. It also gives Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford the needed space on the floor to work. With Butler, Thomas, and Horford in the starting unit, they could add Jae Crowder and pick either Tyler Zeller or Kelly Olynyk.

Although Olynyk will have his playing career this season depend on the analysis from his doctor about his shoulder injury.

As for the Bulls, playing Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade at the same time may space them out on the floor. In getting Gallinari, who averages 19.5 points with 2.5 assists and 5.3 rebounds a game, it will certainly ignite the Bulls’ outside shooting. Since they send Gibson to the Nuggets having Faried is not bad either as he is a consistent contributor as well.

The Nuggets will get a huge boost if they would end up with Cousins on their roster. He is a force to reckon with inside the paint while Gibson could complement both Nikola Jokic and Juancho Hernangomez in the power forward spot.

If the deal does take place, Rudy Gay will take on the leadership role with the Kings. The trade will affect their starting unit and might go with Darren Collison, Arron Afflalo, Gay, Johnson, and Kosta Koufos.

Smart could be considered as Collison’s wingman while Brown could be considered in the rotation together with Matt Barnes.

It is a complicated deal but teams can sort this one out as they would be addressing their respective needs. The trade is plausible but in the end, the Bulls, the Celtics, the Kings, and the Nuggets alone hold the key to making this happen. If they are even sure with their respective rosters, then there is no need to talk about this trade.
