Kobe Bryant’s fan smells sweaty armband in Lakers guard’s worst career defeat

Kobe Bryant suffered the worst loss of his NBA career as Rodney Hood of the Utah Jazz scored 30 points to claim a 123-75 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night. The defeat to Jazz was Lakers’ largest defeat in the franchise’s history.

However, Bryant  found some solace in the result after one of his supporters decided to take a sniff of his sweaty armband after the 37-year-old threw it to the stands.

It has to be said that basketball fans are crazy and Kobe Bryant’s fans are the craziest. Kobe threw the armband in the fourth quarter and was wearing it for the entire game. Hence, the smell had to be horrible. However, it did not matter as the fan took a quick smell of the clothing as one of the commentators shouted “Ah” in disbelief.

The win gave Jazz their biggest offensive output of the season and they remained at the No. 7 position in the Western Conference playoff race with an even 37-37 win-loss record. They are one game ahead the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks, both of which have 36-38 records and tied for eighth place.

The loss to the Utah Jazz matched the 142-94 defeat the Lakers suffered at the hand of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014. Bryant however missed that game due to an injury.

Rodney Hood and Jazz started their domination early in the game as they ran to a 17-2 start. The second year guard was 5 for 5 from the field and had 14 points in the first quarter. Hood had 30 by halftime, went scoreless in the second half and was just two point short of his career high.
