With two more games left in his basketball career, Kobe Bryant was surprised by Oklahoma City Thunder stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook with a gift before the Lakers-Thunder game started on Monday.
Anthony Slater posted on his Twitter account:
Every opposing team had showed their own unique way of paying tribute to one of the greatest players in NBA. The Utah Jazz gave him a bunch of ski-themed gifts after he told former teammate Rick Fox that he wanted to ski in retirement. The Boston Celtics gave him a piece of parquet floor. The Atlanta Hawks and Zoo Atlanta named a snake after him.
And here’s the gift coming from the Oklahoma City Thunder containing hand-written notes specially made by their players.
The Thunder also made a tribute video for Kobe Bryant that was played before the game started featuring his high school coach, Gregg Downer.
Kobe also gave away memorable and signature gifts to some players whom had earned his respect and became close to him. Talking about respect, it might be reason why the two Thunders star were tasked to personally hand-off the gifts.
Kevin Durant once said that Bryant labelled him as the best scorer on earth. With Durant’s intensity and precision, there’s no doubt that he’s one of the player who can match Kobe Bryant on a duel.
Here are some of the highlights of the duel between Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant:
On the other hand, Russell Westbrook always gets compared to Bryant because of how he handled himself on the court. His explosive offense, passion and intensity made him one of the players who’s hard to guard. Only few players had stopped him including Kobe Bryant.
