The Los Angeles Lakers believe that they still have a shot of getting Kevin Durant in free agency. The team is “confident” that they will get to meet with the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar before he makes his decision.
Lakers rumors have linked the team to other top free agents like Hassan Whiteside, Al Horford and Harrison Barnes, but it looks like the Hollywood team won’t give up on Durant yet. According to ESPN, Lakers representatives will contact Durant on the first day of free agency and hopes to get a meeting with the OKC superstar.
“I can’t imagine Durant wouldn’t talk to us. That would shock me,” a source from the ESPN report stated with regard the Lakers-Durant meeting in the early part of 2016 free agency.
The Lakers have some tough rivals in trying to get Durant this summer. NBA rumors has linked Durant to about half the league including the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.
However, earlier reports have claimed that Durant will only consider six teams. Two are from the East, the Celtics and Heat, and four from the West, the Spurs, Warriors, Clippers and Thunder.
Like the Lakers, teams such as the Hawks and Knicks will try their best in convincing Durant to join their respective teams. However, Durant stated earlier in the offseason that he wants to play for a team that has a chance to contend for the title so their chances of getting him are low.

The new Lakers rumors of being confident of a meeting with Durant means that the OKC superstar will add more to his list when free agency opens. The Lakers are also looking at Hassan Whiteside, Al Horford and Harrison Barnes if they fail to get Durant.
