The Sacramento Kings are involved in NBA draft rumors after reports that they badly want Buddy Hield in the 2016 NBA Draft. Will the California-based franchise trade up in the rookie selection and get the rookie from Oklahoma?
According to Chad Ford from ESPN Insider, Sacramento is hoping that Hield drops to them at the No. 8 spot in the rookie selection next week. However, it’s not likely that the Kings get what they want as the Oklahoma Sooners shooting guard is even projected to go as high as No. 3 in some mock drafts.
With Hield not available at No. 8 and the with the Kings general manager and former player Vlade Divac and owner Vivek Ranadive reportedly still interested in Hield, could the Kings make a draft day trade in trying to move up and get to a spot where he is available?

Earlier in the offseason, there were NBA draft rumors that the Kings might trade DeMarcus Cousins for a top pick in the upcoming draft. But it looks like Sacramento wants to stick with Cousins and get another rookie to pair him with the star big man.
Being a 6-foot-5 shooter, Hield would have worked with Cousins but it’s unlikely that the Kings get that combination since Hield would most likely be picked early in the draft.
At the No. 8 spot, the Kings would likely settle for the likes of Jamal Murray (Kentucky), Dragan Bender (Croatia), Domantas Sabonis (Gonzaga), Jakob Poeltl (Utah) or Jaylen Brown (California).
The Kings badly want Buddy Hield but unless they give up major assets it looks like the NBA draft rumors of the shooting guard going to Sacramento is improbable days before the 2016 NBA Draft.
