Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Boston Celtics who are reportedly targeting Cavaliers forward Kevin Love if they fail to acquire Thunder superstar Kevin Durant in free agency.

The Boston Celtics are one of the teams who are actively pursuing Kevin Durant in free agency. Many have predicted that the Celtics now have a higher chance to sign the Thunder superstar after they succeed to sign Al Horford.

Before Horford agreed to join the Celtics, there were previous reports saying that Kevin Durant and Al Horford would like to play with each other. According to Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com, Durant and Horford have talked in glowing terms about the Boston Celtics, head coach Brad Stevens and the players.

“You can feel the tradition walking in here. “You see all the guys plastered on the walls as you walk into the locker room. The tradition of being a Boston Celtic is second to none. So, it’s amazing playing here,” Durant told ESPN.

“The fans, they’re very energetic and they cheer for their team. It’s amazing to see as a player to have fans that care about the game so much. It’s an amazing sports town and they have a great team to cheer for.”

If Kevin Durant decides to join the Boston Celtics, there is a high possibility that they will be one of the favorite teams to contend for the NBA title. However, if the Celtics fail, they might consider other options to land a superstar with their team.

During the 2016 NBA Finals, there were lots of rumors circulating between the Cavaliers forward Kevin Love and the Boston Celtics. The Celtics were reportedly trading the third overall pick (Jaylen Brown) and Jae Crowder for Kevin Love.

However, it seems like the Celtics are considering it as ‘Plan B’ if they fail to get Kevin Durant in free agency.

Kevin Love is not a bad option at all. Though he was not playing well recently, he has still proven his worth in the court. Playing as a sidekick of LeBron James is hard for Love. Kevin Love was used to be the main focus on the offensive end, when he was in the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Since the Boston Celtics is looking for a superstar, Kevin Love could be the best option next to Kevin Durant. However, the situation still depends on where will Durant sign with the team in the next few days.
