The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to select whoever among Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram is available with their second overall pick in this summer’s NBA draft. Brandon Ingram will workout with the Hollywood team on Thursday.
The Philadelphia Sixers will take the first shot at top projected picks as they own the first overall pick. And sources reveal that the Sixers are leaning towards Ben Simmons. Perhaps that is the reason why Los Angeles hasn’t yet scheduled an individual workout session with top draft prospect Ben Simmons unlike Brandon Ingram.
Brandon Ingram is widely expected as one of the top two picks after leaving Duke for the NBA draft following his freshman season. Ingram revealed his thoughts regarding his decision to leave Duke University in the Players Tribune.
“When Coach K came to my house for a home visit, he told me that if I did well in practices I had a chance to get drafted after my first year of college. Everything he said was true. Leaving early was a hard decision, but at the end of the day, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. It was an opportunity I had to take.”
The Lakers selected D’Angelo Russell with their second overall pick last season. Russell is now a potential star. Now, tall Ingram is a pleasing prospect for the Los Angeles, as he fits in the most storied franchise’s gaping hole at the small forward. The Lakers are fortunate to own the No.2 overall pick for the second consecutive NBA draft.
