Carmelo Anthony has made historical performances during the Rio 2016 Olympics. His stability and leadership carried Team USA past the tough challenges international competition, especially Australia. He would also fit perfectly playing with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
While Carmelo Anthony has had astounding performances in Rio, his style is considered by many to be inefficient in the NBA. It’s a general consensus that his game is not enough to make his team win a championship.
NBA rumors are circulating that the Caveliers, upon the urging of LeBron James, is positioning itself to swap Kevin Love for Anthony.
Kevin Love is the odd fit in the team, and his inconsistency during the NBA finals against Stephen Curry and the Warriors didn’t serve to push his value.
Last season’s finals contender have now grown tougher with the acquisition of Kevin Durant, which automatically makes them the favorite to win next season with Klay Thompson, Draymond Green… unless the LeBron James and his Cavs can do something about it.
According to a report by GameNGuide that is exactly what could happen: the Cavs are rumored to make a stand to defend their title in the form of Carmelo Anthony.
Will the Cavaliers big 3 of Anthony, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving be enough to ward off Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson?
Rest assured, if it happens, Carmelo Anthony’s style would be very effective since he’ll be given better spots to take a shot with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving spreading the defense.
His traditional style of offense would flourish with this set up, and he wouldn’t have to force things with the team having many offensive options.
The Bitbag reported how the Cavs have initially wanted DeMarcus Cousins for Kevin Love. But it seems to make sense to focus on Anthony instead considering his positive chemistry with LeBron James.
DeMarcus Cousins is tough and athletic center, but has had many run-ins with coaches and may be not too easy to deal with.
Meanwhile, Kevin Love career stats are similar to Anthony, but his contract is way cheaper. It makes him appealing for the Knicks ‘cause it gives them more leeway for other options.
On the other hand, Kevin Durant may not have a hard time fitting in as a Warrior having gained playing chemistry with Draymond Green and Klay Thompson in Rio.
