The Boston Celtics are still looking for a third All-Star to complete their new “Big 3” with Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Celtics may be acquiring Blake Griffin via a three-team trade with the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings.
Keith Smith of Real GM heard NBA rumors during the Las Vegas Summer League that Boston is interested in trading for Griffin. He noted that a possible deal with the Clippers will also involve the Kings that are shopping Rudy Gay, Kosta Koufos, and Ben McLemore.
To clarify my earlier tweet: BOS would get Griffin, LAC would get Gay and SAC would get Crowder. Other pieces also involved.

Smith clarified that the core of the three-team trade are Griffin, Gay and Jae Crowder. There were no other pieces named but Griffin is expected to land in Boston, Gay ends up in Los Angeles while Crowder goes to Sacramento.
According to Tom West of Clipperholics, it would take more than Rudy Gay to convince the Clippers to let go of Griffin. On the other hand, the Kings are going to be active as Gay has other suitors like the Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls.
As for the Celtics, it makes sense that they want another superstar on their roster. They failed to get Kevin Durant but they are loaded with talent and assets to go after a player like Griffin. The 27-year-old will form a great frontcourt with Horford.
West noted that this three-team trade will all be dependent on the Clippers. Their current core of players has one final shot to win an NBA championship with Chris Paul and Griffin becoming free agents next summer.
However, the Warriors reloaded by adding Kevin Durant which means it would be tougher for the Clippers to get to the Finals. Steve Ballmer’s team is at a crossroads and it might be better to start rebuilding. They could always start it by demanding the 2017 Nets pick from Boston to sweeten any deal involving Griffin.
