NBA Rumors: Celtics to acquire Blake Griffin? Should Boston trade for the Clippers star?

The 2016 NBA Draft is just a week away and teams such as the Boston Celtics, who have the third overall pick, is expected to make a deal on draft night. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Celtics acquiring Blake Griffin from the Los Clippers has been suggested but should Boston even consider it?

The Celtics had a very successful season wherein they made the playoffs but they were eliminated in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks in six games. The team also has the third overall pick in the draft courtesy of the Brooklyn Nets and they have been rumored to be looking to trade for an established star to pair with All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas.

Some of the stars linked with the Celtics in the past several months include Kevin Love, Jahlil Okafor, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George and Jimmy Butler. However, Parker Hurley of FanSided suggests that the Celtics can make a trade for Blake Griffin.

Hurley pointed out that Boston sends players Avery Bradley and Jared Sullinger plus the third overall pick and the Nets 2018 first round pick for Griffin. It’s very plausible but will the Celtics even consider it?

Maybe but Danny Ainge will not give up that much for Griffin. He may be an All-Star but he has issues on and off the court. He has been plagued by injuries for the past couple of years and he was involved in a fight with a Clippers staff this season.

Griffin is one of the best players if healthy and he fits perfectly in Boston, but the 27-year-old player can opt out of his deal at the end of the 2016-17 season. As for the Clippers side of things, they were very unfortunate with injuries but they don’t necessarily need to rebuild.
