Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Chicago Bulls who are reportedly trading Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic for Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Blake Griffin has been involved in various trade rumors this offseason, including the Chicago Bulls. In the recent free agency, the Bulls succeeded to acquire Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade to be more competitive next season.
Jimmy Butler, Wade and Rajon Rondo are now tasked to continue the Bulls legacy in the succeeding years. However, there were questions circulating on how these three superstars will find a way to have the right chemistry.
Jimmy Butler will undeniably become the main focus of the Bulls after they decided to trade Derrick Rose. Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo used to be the main focus of their former teams. Even Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg does not know how to handle the three superstars in their team.
“Great players always figure it out,” Hoiberg said. “It has to be about one thing, and that’s winning. Based on who has the hot hand on any given night, you play through that guy, and the rest of the team plays off him.”
If the Butler, Wade, and Rondo find the right chemistry, there is no doubt that the Chicago Bulls will be one of the teams who will be a contender in the East. Adding another main piece in their frontcourt will give them the chance to match the reigning Eastern Conference champions, Cleveland Cavaliers.
There are rumors that the Chicago Bulls are willing to trade Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic for Blake Griffin. Though there is no indication that the Los Angeles Clippers will entertain the offer, they should consider the future of their team before declining the deal.
The past seasons proved that the Clippers’ ‘Big Three’ was not capable of being a title contender. If they want to rebuild their roster now, trading Blake Griffin for Nikola Mirotic and Taj Gibson makes sense. Ryan Mckenzie of Fansided explained why Nikola Mirotic would be a great acquisition for the Clippers.
“Mirotic’s ability to shoot from deep is the most important part of his arsenal — but it isn’t the only part,” he said. “In his attempt to get players to buy into his system Hoiberg has effectively made Mirotic a one-dimensional player. He is still very effective, just predictable.”
Once the Clippers include Blake Griffin on the trading block, there will surely be lots of NBA teams who are willing to make a seductive offer to acquire the Clippers superstar. The Clippers will surely entertain an offer that will include a starter and a future first-round pick to close the deal.
