NBA Rumors: Chris Paul seeks help from Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James in 2017? CP3 hints last season in Lob City if Clippers fail to win championship title

Clippers’ Chris Paul suffers rib injury

The Los Angeles Clippers remain confident that they can match NBA ‘Super Teams’ with all their ‘Big Three’ healthy. The 2016-17 NBA season is expected to be the last season of Chris Paul in Los Angeles if they fail to win the championship title.

The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the NBA teams who pursued Kevin Durant in the recent free agency. After the meeting with him, there was a growing optimism in Los Angeles that Durant will join their team next season. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old small forward chose their West rivals, Golden State Warriors.

The acquisition of Kevin Durant by the 73-win Golden State Warriors creates a larger problem for the teams who failed to make a major improvement this summer like the Los Angeles Clippers. However, coach Doc Rivers remains optimistic, saying that the Clippers can beat any team that they will be facing next season.

The outcome of the 2016-17 NBA season will be vital for the Clippers as it may affect the decision of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul in the 2017 NBA free agency. For CP3, being a ringless superstar creates a different kind of frustration for an incoming free agent like him.

“Unfortunately for me, I’ve had 11 summers of going into the summer knowing what it’s like not to win a championship,” Paul said.

No one can blame Chris Paul from being disappointed. With his talent and skills, there is no doubt that he has the capability to bring a team to the championship. However, injuries kept him and Blake Griffin from reaching their goals.

For Doc Rivers, he is expecting to face the same situation with the Oklahoma City Thunder regarding incoming free agents Blake Griffin and Chris Paul.

“Blake and CP are free agents and just like last year, Oklahoma had to deal with that — now it’s our turn,” Rivers said. “It’s been a sense of urgency since we’ve been there, in my opinion. And we haven’t followed through yet, and there’s another sense of urgency here. We’re not the only ones. Everyone has a sense of urgency.”

So far, the ‘Big Three’ is the major reason why the Clippers are still considered a threat to every team in the league. However, they are also the reason why the Clippers could not make a major upgrade on their roster.

If the Los Angeles Clippers suffer another disappointing season, there is a higher possibility that this will be the last season that fans can see the ‘Big Three’ in Lob City. Once Chris Paul becomes a free agent, he could team up with his pal Carmelo Anthony in New York or play with LeBron James in Cleveland.
