DeMarcus Cousins is currently playing with Kyrie Irving in the 2016 Rio Olympics for Team USA and it led to some crazy NBA rumors. One of them is a three-team trade that involves the Cavs, Kings and Celtics with Cousins heading to Cleveland.
Aaron Ferguson of King James Gospel thinks that now is the right time for the Cavaliers to trade for Cousins, who is one of the best centers in the league. He noted that “Boogie” is a great fit in Cleveland wherein he will form a new “Big 3” with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
Ferguson suggested a three-team deal wherein the Cavaliers acquire DeMarcus Cousins from the Kings while trading Kevin Love and Iman Shumpert. Sacramento will then send Love to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Marcus Smart and Jae Crowder.
He pointed out that the Kings will want a guard and a wing, not Love, because they have drafted three big men in the last two years – Willie Cauley-Stein, Skal Labissiere and Georgios Papagiannis. Besides Smart and Crowder, Boston has a bunch of other young assets and draft picks that could entice anyone, especially the Kings.
The Celtics are looking for a third star like Love to form their own “Big 3” with Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford. And as for the Cavs, they know that they can use Love as a trade chip to improve their team at the deadline and get someone like Cousins.
However, it should be noted that these are just NBA rumors but the Cavaliers have inquired about DeMarcus Cousins this offseason, per Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders. The Kings told them no because they will try to make it work with Dave Joerger first this season before trading him if it fails.
