NBA Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins joining the Warriors in 2018?

The Golden State Warriors have built a “superteam” this offseason by signing Kevin Durant to a two-year deal. According to the latest NBA rumors, DeMarcus Cousins could possibly join the Warriors when the summer of 2018 comes.

Carlos Murillo of Blue Man Hoop pointed out five possible reasons why “Boogie” will be in Golden State when he becomes a free agent at the end of the 2017-18 season. The first reason is a change of scenery for the best center in the league.

DeMarcus Cousins has been in the NBA for six years but he has not made the playoffs. It is due to a combination of several factors including the unstable nature of the Kings front office. He is entering the season with a new head coach, the sixth in his career.

The 25-year-old changing teams would be the best move for him. The second reason is the business side of the NBA. Golden State has become a great market for players and it would be better than playing in Sacramento.

The next two reasons are concentrated on winning as Cousins skillset fits the Warriors offense perfectly. He can also fulfill his full potential playing on a winning team rather than in a losing situation. And lastly, he has expressed his love for the Golden State Warriors.

Murillo noted that Cousins is close to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson due to their experience playing together in the 2014 World Cup. He will now have the time to bond with Draymond Green and Kevin Durant in the upcoming Rio Olympics.

However, it should be noted that these are just pure speculations but DeMarcus Cousins joining Golden State to form a “Big 5” is not impossible. The NBA will not like it but the Warriors are capable of luring another superstar.
