Harrison Barnes is one of the key players for the Golden State Warriors in their run to the NBA championship last season but has been missing in action against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals. NBA rumors has Barnes leaving the Warriors this offseason especially if he continues to struggle against the Cavs and if Golden State fails to defend their title.
Barnes will reportedly demand a maximum contract in free agency but with how he has performed for the Warriors in the last few games of the NBA Finals, NBA teams will be hesitant to give it to him and even choose other top free agents over Barnes this summer.
Harrison Barnes in the NBA Finals:
Game 1: 13 points on 6 of 10 shooting
Game 2: 5 points and 5 rebounds
Game 3: 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
Game 4: 14 points and 8 rebounds
Game 5: 5 points on 1 of 6 shooting
Game 6: 0 points on 0 of 5 shooting
With such performances especially in the last two games, it’s expected that Barnes is in NBA rumors that the Warriors do not want him back for next season.
A maximum contract for Barnes means he will get paid more next season over the likes of teammates Draymond Green ($15.3 million), Klay Thompson ($16.7 million) and Steph Curry ($11.4 million). However, since Barnes is not showing superstar numbers like his teammates it looks like Barnes will miss out on a huge contract this offseason.
NBA teams have a big salary cap increase for the new season and teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets, among others, are all hot in NBA rumors section recently and most are expected to chase Barnes if they lose out on the other top free agents.
