Kevin Durant shocked the NBA by joining the Golden State Warriors, the team who went 73-9 last year in the regular season. Now NBA rumors state that the possible reason for him leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder is because of Rusell Westbrook.
What could be the reason why KD left OKC despite the fact that they were one of the title contenders last season? Was Durant not happy when the Thunder traded Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic for guard Victor Oladipo and other serviceable players?
One of the NBA rumors and theories why Kevin Durant left OKC to join the Warriors was because he was getting tired of teaming up with Russell Westbrook, who sometimes cost the Thunder some crucia games because of late game errors and bad decisions.
In previous seasons, Durant and Westbrook have publicly stated that they have no problem playing with each other. However, on the court it looked like they could not co-exist especially in the end of games when the Thunder were confused on which superstar to go to during crunchtime.
The worst of Durant and Westbrook was seen when the Thunder fell to the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals after leading 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. OKC had three chances to finish off the defending champions but failed and there were times that Westbrook and Durant both struggled to complete the Thunder’s collapse.
Westbrook also has a tendency to play “heroball” and this put Durant on the background just as a second option during the key moments of some games.
Westbrook is one of the best players in the league but his partnership with Kevin Durant never produced a championship as the Thunder always came up short.
Did Kevin Durant leave OKC because of the selfishness of Westbrook, as per NBA rumors? How will he adjust to the Warriors’ system, which already has stars Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green?
